Mobile Phone with Pull-Out E-Paper Display
Europe
UK : Polymer Vision, the inventor of rollable displays and a spin out
from Philips, introduced the Readius product for commercial launch by
mid 2008. The exclusive device exploits the versatility of rollable
displays to merge the ‘reading friendly’ strengths of e-readers with
the ‘high mobility’ features of mobile phones. Together with the
Readius® internet portal, designed for personalisation and content
selection, the company offers a whole new mobile phone category.
“People
are demanding greater choice and flexibility in having overall instant
access to personal content and information” said Karl McGoldrick, CEO
of Polymer Vision. “They do not want to be concerned with small
screens, not being able to read in sunlight, a dead battery or a device
being too bulky to carry in their pocket. Readius® solves these worries
and is generations ahead of anything else out there today”.
Readius is the ideal travel companion
Designed around ease of use and mobility, Readius® can last for 30
hours of continuous reading without battery charge. The 3G HSDPA
tri-band phone allows worldwide calls and high speed instant updates
from personally selected news sources, email and other services.
Standard POP3 and IMAP is supported for ISP e-mail and others such as
Yahoo!Mail, Google Gmail and Microsoft Exchange. The Micro SD High
Capacity storage ensures quick and easy access to e-books and valuable
information. Readius® also features audio capabilities, including MP3,
for podcasts, audio books and music.
Readius internet portal delivers choice and flexibility
The Readius internet portal allows users to quickly and simply
configure their Readius® User Interface as well as select content and
services to individual style and needs. With zero clicks, personal data
and information is then ‘pushed’ whenever and wherever it is needed.
The portal presents content providers with a commercially attractive
channel to offer their content and services to the high growth mobile
consumer market. Polymer Vision is in discussion with numerous such
providers to populate the portal and make a broad choice of content and
services available to Readius owners.
Commercial
Readius will be available for commercial launch mid 2008, creating an
exceptional opportunity for mobile operators, retail outlets and
content providers to win new customers, increase revenues and develop
non-intrusive mobile advertising options. Specific details on timing,
volumes and pricing can be discussed by appointment.
Readius,
its applications, and the content download platform, will be on show at
the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, 11th – 14th February 2008, at
the Polymer Vision booth, Hall 2, Booth C05.

Dark Silver LG Viewty 3G Mobile Phone

its popular LG Viewty professional-level camera phone, which has now
sold over 550,000 units.
LG will begin offering the LG Viewty in Dark Silver in addition the
current black. LG chose this new colour to further the LG Viewty’s
polished, premium image, after researching colour preferences in
countries where the phone is sold and colour trend forecasts for 2008.
“With this new Dark Silver colour option LG has made the LG Viewty even
better, giving buyers an opportunity to customize their phones with a
new high-tech finish that is still professional and complements its

special when we created Viewty, and it turns out that over half a
million customers agree with us.”

touchscreen has now topped 550,000 units in sales. This comes only two
and half months after the phone’s November 2007 release in Europe. LG

10,000 units are leaving store shelves daily. The company attributes
this success to the LG Viewty’s combination of top-notch features and
great design.

making products that reflect customer insights and needs. This year LG
will release even more colour choices for the LG Viewty.
Modu Mobile Phone With Many Coats
Israel : modu
announced a fundamental shift in the mobile handset industry by
launching the world's first modular mobile phone, supported by variety
of ecosystem partners. At the heart of the ecosystem is modu - a tiny,
sleek mobile phone that is fully functional and easy to use. The modu
can be slipped into a wide variety of modu jackets - stylishly designed
phone enclosures - and modu mates -- modu-enabled consumer electronics
devices. modu's ecosystem offers boundless possibilities in a simple
and affordable way.
Leading
mobile network operators (MNOs) with a total of tens of millions of
subscribers have already committed to modu, signing strategic
partnerships that will see the first modu products available in the
fourth quarter of 2008. The MNOs are Telecom Italia's mobile division
TIM, BeeLine (VimpelCom) of Russia and Cellcom in Israel.
modu
ecosystem partners also include mainstream consumer electronics
manufacturers who have signed up to develop modu mates such as MP4
players, digital photo frames, cameras and DECT phones, enabling best
of breed functionality coupled with modu's personal communication
experience. One of the first such partners is car multimedia and
navigation leader Blaupunkt.
Lifestyle,
entertainment and fashion brands - including the world's largest music
company Universal Music Group - are also part of the modu ecosystem,
partnering with modu to design stylish and customized modu jackets.
modu,
which was set up in 2007 by leading technology innovator and
entrepreneur Dov Moran, the inventor of the USB Flash Drive and other
ground breaking personal storage solutions, has developed a mobile
phone that promises to transform the way people buy, use and enjoy
personal communication.
Dov
Moran, modu's CEO and founder, said: "The mobile phone industry is
ready for a revamp. There are hundreds of handset models on the market:
the trouble is that as a consumer you can only have one at a time and
you are usually tied to a long and expensive contract. modu is
challenging that with a solution that offers freedom, boundless
possibilities and the opportunity to change your phone without it
costing a fortune."
For
MNOs, the benefits of partnering with modu are numerous: modu's
business model gives them an additional opportunity to engage in a
positive dialogue with their subscribers by offering the choice to
affordably change their phone a few times a year; MNOs can also create
and build new communities among their subscriber base, leading to
increased usage, additional handsets, greater loyalty and reduced
churn.
Dov
Moran added: "modu is all about creating partnerships and opportunities
and making new connections: for consumers, for operators, for big
brands seeking a meaningful profile in the mobile market and for
established consumer electronics businesses looking to realize the full
potential of personal communication."
modu is already attracting widespread support from leading players in the mobile and consumer electronics markets.

Make a statement
Whether at work or at play, you have a personal style that’s all your own – a style and look that the Z555 sets off perfectly. With a unique diamond reflective finish on the front, and sophisticated details, it truly reflects your personality. Choose between Diamond Black and Dusted Rose and you will soon get noticed.
Just wave the interruptions away
The Z555 incorporates Sony Ericsson’s handy Gesture Control, letting you easily mute the phone or snooze its alarm without having to interrupt what you’re doing. When a call comes in, a simple movement of your hand back and forth over the phone mutes the ringtone. Similarly, sweep your hand over the phone when using it as your alarm clock to put it into ‘snooze’ mode. Works like magic!
Stay informed – discreetly
The Z555’s outside display shows you who is calling even without opening the clamshell. When it’s in idle mode, the outside display remains discretely invisible…with no compromise to the design.
The latest look
Just like you, the Z555 changes its look to fit the suit the season. The colours and designs that appear within the phone’s themes, effectively the look of the menu system and home screen, can update automatically as the year goes by. Linked to the phone’s calendar, the Z555 knows when it’s time for that summer look to give way to the fall. It even saves something special for big events like News Year’s Eve!
Indulge your passions on the go
The Z555 allows you to grab that spare moment in a taxi to catch up with your favourite band or even book. Store your favourite music tracks or audio books on the phone and sort them by chapters, albums or artists. Tune in to FM Radio for the weather, traffic or the latest celebrity news.
Snap the action as it happens
The Z555’s 1.3MP camera ensures that you’re always in a position to snap the action as it happens. Take a picture of a potential new purchase and send it as a picture message to a friend or upload it directly to your ‘blogsite’ so that everyone can share what you’ve been up to.
Accessorise to complete the look
Any stylist will tell you that no look is complete without the right accessories. The Design Collection offers four different stylish leather bags that complement
your style and protect your phone at the same time. This Collection offers creative and stylish carrying solutions that fit with your phone and your style.
The Z555 is also compatible with three sleek new Bluetooth™ headsets:
- The Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-PV708 offers the best combination of style and convenience – to keep you in touch whether you’re walking the dog or buying a coffee
- The Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-PV770 provides an alternative in-ear wearing style so that you can still use it while wearing your glasses or sunglasses
- The Bluetooth™ Headset HBH-PV712 reduces background noise and maximises comfort, letting you concentrate on the person you are talking with. It also raises the style stakes thanks to the two changeable Style-up™ covers included with it.
