Sony PMX-M70 PMP pictures unleashed in public

Sony announced their upcoming M70 and U50 players back in May 2007 - the M70 was the player that got the majority of the attention and we have exclusive pictures of this “beaut”. Unfortunately, these players are only being sold in China and unavailable to the West.

So what’s all the excitement?

The M70 flash player is available in 2, 4 and 8GB storage capacities. The player’s storage capacity is expandable even further through the use of a memory stick using the provided expansion slot; however, the player’s flash memory size is slightly disappointing. The PMP’s TFT display extends an impressive 4.3 inches of the player making the player a great competitor in the current market.

Audio file format support consists of MP3, WMA, and AAC while video file format support is limited to MPEG-4, AVC, and AVI. Open source activists will feel demoralized by the lack of open format support, yet what should we expect from Sony?

Other unique features incorporated into the player include an Fm tuner, audio/voice recording capabilities, direct video recording, and a built-in speaker. The player’s battery life is admirable with the ability to listen to 20 hours of audio on a single charge. While the media player has a large 4.3 inch screen, one would be inclined to suggest otherwise from its 11.7 by 7.4 by 1.2 cm dimensions.

The M70 is available in a choice of either red or black.
