Samsung i450 is the new Samsung 3G-enabled phone which is a dual slider running on Symbian OS.

This handset presents a two way slider design which is almost same as Nokia N95. However, Samsung i450 is much more slimmer than N95 (21mm, 120gram), coming with only 11.8 mm thick and only light 95 gram weight. Nokia Unveils 3G Clamshell

The Nokia 6555 is a quad-band GSM/EDGE and dual-band WCDMA 850/2100 3G clamshell that also has two cameras for video sharing services. It is an addition to Nokia's style collection, and has a curved profile when open. The hinge is hidden, creating a smooth back to the phone. It has dual displays and the interior screen has QVGA resolution. The camera is 1.3 Megapixels and it also has Bluetooth, support for up to 4GB in the microSD slot, and it runs the Series 40 platform. It is available in several colors and goes on sale next month for 200 Euros.

Verizon Launches Motorola Q9m Online

Verizon today made Motorola's Q9m smartphone available to online buyers. Although the Q9m is similar to the HSDPA Q9h, this EV-DO version features slightly different styling and downgrades some features. It shares the Q9h's keyboard, screen, Windows Mobile 6 standard (Smartphone) and stereo Bluetooth but uses Mini SD instead of MicroSD and downgrades the camera to 1.3 Megapixels. It also features a new multimedia home screen. The Q9m is only available from Verizon's website for $250 with a 2-year contract and rebates.

Hot Talk: Nokia Warns of Defective Batteries

Nokia on Tuesday warned consumers that as many as 46 million cell phone batteries could overheat and dislodge themselves from their chargers.

So far, according to the Nokia (Quote) release, there have been about 100 reported incidents of the BL-5C batteries overheating as a result of a short circuit that occurs while charging.

The defective batteries were manufactured by Matsushita Battery Industrial Co., Ltd. of Japan between December 2005 and November 2006. Nokia said it will replace the batteries for free and thus far, there have been no reports of serious injuries or property damage.

The BL-5C is one of 14 different battery models used in Nokia products. Matsushita is one several manufacturers supplying batteries for its phones.

"Nokia has identified that in very rare cases, the Nokia-branded BL-5C batteries could potentially experience overheating initiated by a short circuit while charging, causing the battery to dislodge," the company said in a statement.

Less than a year ago, several laptop makers were forced to recall more than 9.6 million laptop PC batteries manufactured by Sony after discovering some could overheat and catch fire.

Nokia shares closed down 64 cents to $29.84 in Tuesday trading.

Fujitsu Intros 2 New Laptops

Fujitsu Computer Systems has introduced two new notebooks, one an update to its popular convertible tablet/notebook and the other an ultramobile PC the size of a day-timer, which has only been available in Japan till now.

The Lifebook U810 weighs a little more than 1.5 pounds and offers a 5.6-inch LCD with touch screen functionality via a stylus. Despite its small size, it's still a functioning PC, which is Fujitsu's selling point.

It also includes a full-function QWERTY keyboard, 1GB of memory and a 40GB hard drive, as well as with Windows Vista or XP Tablet edition. It also supports 802.11g wireless networking and has up to 5.5 hours of battery life.

"More ultramobiles have been like a Blackberry, where you use your thumbs to type," said Paul Moore, the senior director for mobile product marketing at Fujitsu. "This has a fully usable keyboard on which you can type."

Sony Ericsson’s Latest Cellphone Uses “Shake” Technology

Recently launched in Canada through Rogers, the Sony Ericsson W580i Walkman Phone lets you change tracks with a flick of your wrist. Just like SanDisk’s Sansa Shaker that I reviewed earlier, the Slider handset will randomly change to a new song when you literally shake the phone physically. For an additionally touch of flare, the phone also has a set of orange illumination lights along the spine that light up whenever you navigate through the phone’s menu system.

Sound silly? As I found with the Sansa Shaker, shaking your mp3 player is not a practical way to change songs (especially if you’re the kind to dance or move around when listening to music), it works, but in a fun, novelty way. The difference here being that the Shaker is pink and designed for little girls while I’m guessing the W580i is geared for adults. You’ll probably shake it to show off for your friends, but not when you’re listening to music on your own.
At 14 mm thin, the new slider comes in two colours; “style white” and “urban grey”. It has a 262K screen, uses Sony’s Walkman 2.0 music player and Disc2Phone Music Management software, both Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 support, and can be loaded with music tracks from a Memory Stick Micro. It comes with 512MB stick in the box, but you can also get a free upgrade from Rogers for a 2GB memory stick instead.
